Billy Lane was born and brought up in Miami, Florida. He is a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Floria International University and also holds an Associate of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Career and Profession

Billy is a Motorcycle customizer and the owner of Chopper Inc. His father has greatly influenced his enthusiasm for cars and motorcycles right from a tender age. So, before attending college, he had already acquired mechanical knowledge.

He bought his first bike in the 80s in parts and pieces so he could practicalize with it. Through the aid of old-timers and research, he learned how to couple it together.

After he graduated from the university, he got a job with his brother Warren. He worked as a bike repairer which boasted his experience.

Billy Lane started producing custom parts and gifted his friend. His demand for customer parts skyrocketed which led to the formation of Chopper Inc., Melbourne, Florida in 1995.

He rose to fame when he appeared on the Discovery Channel show Biker Build-Off. Billy’s impact and creativity in Building custom Motorcycles has left an unerasable mark in the industry.

On September 4, 2006, he was involved in a vehicular Homicide that left Gerald Morelock Morelock dead. He was trying to maneuver two cars by crossing a double yellow line which resulted in a collision with a 1983 Yamaha Motorcycle ridden by Gerald Morelock a 56-year-old Man at Sebastian Inlet State Park. Gerald was severely Injured and was pronounced dead by the authorities at the point of the accident.

Lane was charged by Gerald Morelock’s family filing a lawsuit against Billy for Manslaughter and driving under the Influence of Alcohol.

At 9 am on the 14^th of August 2009, Billy appeared in court in Viera, Florida. After 20 minutes recess, the judge announced Billy had six years in prison, 10 days DUI level 1 course and his driver’s license was suspended for Life. He was then handcuffed from the court to the prison. Billy faced up to nine years in prison.

Billy Lane was released on September 18, 2014, after serving his sentence at Avon Park Work Camp.

Billy Lane has written two books that explore his own interesting life and the world of custom motorcycles.

The first book is titled, “Billy Lane Chop Fiction: It’s Not A Motorcycle, It’s A Chopper”, which is co-authored with Michael Lichter and Darwin Holmstrom.

The Second Book is “Billy Lane’s How to Build Old School Chopper, Bobbers and Customs”, in this book, he shares his secrets and a guide for those who have a keen interest in building classic choppers, bikes, or bobbers.
