Early Life and Career

Katie Aselton was born in the town of Milbridge, Maine. In 1995, she competed in beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Maine Teen USA and placed second in Miss Teen USA. She completed her high school education from Narraguagus High School in Harrington, Maine, in 1996.

She attended Boston University’s School of Communications for two years before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an actress. She met Mark Duplass, who would later become her husband, there. She then moved to New York to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts for two years.

Her career started in 2004 where she appeared in a short movie titled Scrapple along side Mark Duplass and his brother Jay Duplass who directed and wrote the short film.

In The Puffy Chair, co-directed by Mark Duplass and his brother Jay, Aselton made her feature-length film debut. The film had its world premiere at Sundance in January 2005 and went into limited release on June 2, 2006.

Aselton co-starred in the short film “The Intervention” with Steve Zissis the same year. After taking a break from acting, Aselton returned in 2009 to appear in an episode of The Office.

She also appeared in the films Easier with Practice, Other People’s Parties, and Feed the Fish that year. Togetherness, an HBO original series created by her husband and brother-in-law, starred Aselton as Anna. She was cast in a recurring role as Jennifer in the second season of Casual that same year.

Alethea Jones directed Aselton in Fun Mom Dinner, which she also co-starred in alongside Molly Shannon and Toni Collette. In a Season 9 episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, she played Jean the USPS Letter Carrier.

Personal Life

Katie Aselton is married to Mark Duplass They’ve been married since August 26, 2006. They first met at a New Year’s Eve Party in 2001. The couple has collaborated on a number of projects, including FX’s The League and some created by Duplass himself, such as HBO’s Togetherness.

They’re blessed with two children, one was born in 2007 and the other, 2012.
