Ervin D. Hurd (Born 1953, in California, U.S.A) is an American technical director in the movie industry and a celebrity Husband. He is of African-American ancestry and holds US citizenship.
He’s popularly known as the husband of Chip Fields, an actress, and Singer. Erv is also the father of actress Kim Fields.
Hurd graduated from the University of California in 1979 where he studied film.
His career started in 1979 when he served as an editor for the TV series Beat The Clock.
He also worked on six episodes of the sitcom “The Ropers” that year.
Erv began working as a technical director on the TV series “Tattletales” in 1982; since then, his resume has included projects such as “The $25,000 Pyramid,” “The Young and the Restless,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” among many others. Erv has been regularly commissioned to work on TV specials of popular award shows such as the American Music Awards, BET Comedy Awards, and, most notably, the Academy Awards since the mid-2000s.
He has worked as the technical director on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for over 2,500 episodes since 2004. He has been nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards in the categories of Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, and Video for a Series, but has yet to win any. In addition, he was nominated for nine Daytime Emmys for his work on “The $10,000 Pyramid” and “The Young and the Restless,” and he won four of them, in 1987, 1990, 1991, and 1993.
Erv Hurd is happily married to Chip Fields since August 20, 1994, and they’re blessed with Kim Fields. Before they married, She already has two grown-up kids Kim, born May 12, 1969, and Alexis, born March 3, 1979.
She previously married a non-celebrity, whom she divorced while Kim and Alexis were still children.
